About

Jack William Urban aka Will Brooke, is a writer, poet, and poly artist who aims to help people fall deeper in love with one another, nature, and God.

He earned his MA from Wheaton College in 2019 lives in the Midwest USA with his wife, who patiently tolerates his habit of spending hours every day with people he makes up. She also tolerates music at any time of the day or night, or finding her husband MIA before colorful screens in the wee hours before dawn. And faithfully endures the days when her well organized home is invaded by his creative chaos. Hers is the unseen sacrifice for his work.

Urban produces music, visual art, and writes short stories, Christian devotionals, poetry, and family-friendly adventure fiction.

His written work spans a variety of genres, from the exciting upcoming magical realism adventure novel, The Talking Stone, to the whimsical illustrated children’s book, Brill: The Tale of a Reluctant Donkey. His adventurous memoir, Backward Down the Mountain, has received praise such as, “It’s a real page-turner!” and “This is no ordinary adventure; it’s extraordinary!”

Jack has also published two devotionals on Windwalker Books’ imprint: Small Talks with God and 40 Days with Jesus. Small Talks with God sold out at the book table during the 2024 Write to Publish conference. His poetry, songs, and short stories have found homes online and in print, on music releases, and at art festivals.

Jack is committed to bringing beauty, adventure, and gentle encouragement the curious who value delightful surprises within the framework of faith. His growing Substack, Everyday Amazed, publishes flash stories, poetry, and articles.

As a composer, he’s published five recording projects available on all the major streaming platforms: Butterflies in Snow, Manna, and three collections in the Wellsprings series; Hidden Glory, Joyful, and Wellsprings 25th Anniversary Edition.

Jack’s visual, performance art, and sound sculptures have been featured in galleries in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and elsewhere.

Jack’s ongoing work in the local church puts art in action while working with the under resourced, and those in correctional centers. He has founded and directed the ministries Warm Feet Warm Hearts and Eyes of the Wind.
